Clear the Shelters Day 2019, August 17th!
Come find your perfect pet match Saturday, August 17, 2019. Dallas/Fort Worth animal shelters will join together for Clear the Shelters Day to offer fee-waived adoptions on all adoptable dogs and cats at over 60 area shelters. Clear the Shelters Day is the largest joint adoption event in Texas and the Allen Animal Shelter will once again participate.
Last year, North Texans helped Clear the Shelters, finding more than 3,300 pets new homes. From the beginning of the promotion of Clear the Shelters, more than 3,800 animals were adopted, bringing the grand total to more than 7,100 pets placed in new homes. Nationwide more than 80,000 pets were adopted during last year’s event, but millions more remain homeless. Every year, 7.6 million animals end up in shelters nationwide — and only 2.7 million are adopted, according to the ASPCA.
Make an animal’s dream come true. Adopt.

The City of Allen is among dozens of North Texas shelters and rescue organizations participating in Clear the Shelters. The pet adoption initiative helps address overcrowding at animal shelters, which typically reach peak capacity during summer months.
On one day only, shelters across the country will waive adoption fees in an effort to find a home for every available animal. Allen Animal Shelter typically charges $95. Pets adopted from Allen Animal Shelter are spayed or neutered, chipped and vaccinated prior to adoption.
Allen Animal Shelter will offer free adoptions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 18 at Allen Animal Shelter (770 S. Allen Heights Drive). At other North Texas shelters, fees and shelter times may vary.
