Top 5 Frozen Treats in Allen

Frozen treats are not just for kids! Between ice-cream, yogurt, ice-cream sandwiches and popsicles, there are hundreds of options, and in Texas we need cold treats like these. This weather is crazy hot so you had better either eat inside or enjoy it fast! So, take a few minutes and treat yourself to something delicious and stay cool at the same time!  I visited my favorite top five and cannot wait to tell you about them!

Grif's Sammie Shop

Grif’s is located in the Villages of Allen and he opened in August of 2016. Grif’s offers; ice-cream sandwiches, brownies with ice-cream, milk shakes, scoops of ice-cream (12 flavors), and their most popular edible cookie dough that comes by the scoop or as a cookie pop! Grif’s cookies are delicious and they are made from scratch every day from his grandmother’s and aunt’s recipes. While I was visiting, I had a sugar cookie and sweet cream sandwich, it was truly delicious! They also cater and do corporate events, wouldn’t that be fun? You should stop by and say hello, it is sure hot enough around here and Grif is happy to sit down and tell you his story.

Frios Gourmet Pops

Located in Watters Creek, I have always been one to love popsicles, to me they are so refreshing and they just make me smile. When you walk into Frio’s, it is a very simple and clean place. You know you are there for one thing, a delicious and cold treat! They have fruit based popsicles and milk based. If you like creamy popsicles try the Raspberry Cheesecake or the Fruity Pebbles one! I like more fruit and water based popsicles, so I had the Tangy Orange and Lime Mojito, which were both so satisfying in taste! Another fun detail about Frio’s is that at each table they have fun little games you can play while you eat! We sat and played bottle cap checkers! This is a great little date stop.

Paciugo

Also located in Watters Creek, Paciugo offers delicious Gelato in Milk based flavors and Water-Sorbet flavors. Gelato was originally created in Italy and Ugo Ginatta loved his recipe so much that he wanted to bring it to America and that he did! It is a light, smooth alternative to ice-cream and the best thing, is that it has 70% less fat than ice-cream! My favorite flavors are Sea Salt Caramel, Chocolate Turtle and Coconut. Paciugo also caters events and can be scheduled online. Stop by and try it out! You can get one flavor in a cup or three flavors in a cup! Magnifico!

Yogurtville

One of Allen’s longtime favorites! Every kid in Allen has probably been to Yogurtville at one time or another. I love Yogurtville for many reasons, but I really like the fact that it is self-serve. You can choose from 10-12 different flavors of yogurt and then you get to go to the toppings bar and I have never been so overwhelmed by so many toppings in my life! I always leave with my yogurt looking like it came straight from the circus! You know that saying, “Her eyes were bigger than her stomach?” That is me! Everything is always delicious. I also love that Yogurtville is always so bright and colorful and everyone that works there is so friendly and helpful.

Cold Stone Creamery

Serving ice-cream for over 25 years, Cold Stone has delicious treats. They have of course, ice-cream, but they also have shakes, cakes, and smoothies. Their ice-cream is combined with their delicious choice of toppings on a frozen granite slab to keep the ice-cream as cold as possible.  I love walking into Cold Stone because of the smell of their waffle cones, I think they must add vanilla or cinnamon in them! I just love that smell. My favorite combination to get is; Sweet Cream ice-cream with marshmallows and Reese’s Peanut butter cups in a waffle cone of course!
