Annual CCMGA Fall Plant Sale at Myers Park, Oct. 12th

Gardening is an activity that can be enjoyed by almost everyone, regardless of their age or limitations. This summer CCMGA was proud to present Hugs Greenhouse with grant to aid in their latest social enterprise brought you from the team at Hugs Café in downtown McKinney! But, the buck didn’t just stop there.  A relationship has blossomed. Members of CCMGA are generous gardeners who conserve, care and share.  Master Gardeners receive special training in horticulture and in exchange for their training these individuals volunteer their time to provide horticultural-related information to their communities. These enthusiastic gardeners are willing to learn and to help others, and able to communicate with diverse groups of people.

CCMGA has partnered with Hugs Greenhouse to not only impart their knowledge, but to help these differently abled individuals grow. The mission of Hugs has always been to create an inviting place of training and employment for adults with special needs while providing dignity, self-worth and developing respect in the community. Under General Manger Bill Crumps guidance and expertise, Hugs Greenhouse grows a variety of perennials and annuals that survive and thrive in North Texas. Bill says, “We focus on growing and selling fresh plant varieties that you can trust are hand-grown, watered, cared for, and loved by all of our Teammates.”

CCMGA is happy to announce that new this year at The CCMGA 2019 Fall Plant Sale are pansies and plants grown for us by Hugs Greenhouse.  Bill shares, “Hugs Greenhouse is excited about being able to provide Pansies and Perennials for the upcoming Oct. 12th Plant Sale.  The CCMGA has been, and still is, a great partner with the startup and continued support of Hugs. Our teammates (Adults with special needs) have been working hard to be able to provide the plant material that will be available at the sale. We look forward to our continued partnership in the coming years.”
