Top 5 Italian Restaurants in Allen

I love eating out, we do it several times a week, so why does eating Italian food seem like such a treat? Maybe because of its rich sauces or because of the warm bread, or maybe it is the family atmosphere that you get when you sit down for an Italian meal. Here are my Top 5 for several different reasons!

Roman Cucina

Now, this is a gem! I had never been here before and I could not believe such a beautiful restaurant had been in Allen this whole time and I did not know it.  Roman Cucina opens at five o’clock for dinner and when I arrived, there was a line at the door of people waiting to get in. I knew I was in for a treat. When you walk into this quaint place, you feel like you are stepping back in time to a place in New York where the Brat Pack might have hung out. Sinatra was playing and there were historical photos of famous Italians all over the brick exposed walls. Their food did not disappoint either! Their bread was crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside and an amazing Cesar Salad is served with every entrée. I ordered the bruschetta which had toasted Italian bread topped with Roma tomatoes, basil, garlic olive oil and mozzarella…delicious! I also had the lobster stuffed ravioli which was to die for!

Italian Villa

You cannot walk into Italian Vila and not see someone you know. It is like walking into an old Italian village where you used to live. Italian Villa has been around since October of 1992 and it is still an Allen favorite. You cannot go wrong with their delicious homemade yeast rolls or for that matter, any dish you should order. I had their Cesar salad that had large homemade croutons and plenty of delicious fresh parmesan cheese on top. I also had their Chicken piccata with capers in a lemon butter sauce over spaghetti noodles and a side of fettuccini alfredo! They serve wine and beer and have happy hour Monday-Friday from 4-6:00pm. Go by and say hello to Tony who knows, he may be twirling a pizza or two in their little window in the back!

Brio Tuscan Grille

You cannot mention Italian food and not mention Brio! It is one of the most consistently delicious restaurants in Allen. Their food quality is always superb, and their portions are very generous, you get what you pay for at Brio without a doubt! Brio is a beautiful, old world dining experience; it has white table cloths but you could also wear jeans and feel at home. I cannot go to Brio without getting their Lobster bisque soup, it is the best that I have ever had. I had the Mushroom Ravioli, Spaghetti Pomodoro, which is my favorite and delicious Chicken Limone that is sautéed chicken, lemon, capers, roasted vegetables and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. I love how they serve bread and those sesame seed crackers as you sit down. Brio is a class act and their love is shown in all of the many details they naturally do every day.

Napoli's

Napoli’s is a corner favorite in Allen, and I can tell you why! The sauces are so rich and delicious you could eat them with a spoon. It is a small but great spot to stop in for lunch or dinner. They have great lunch specials that are only $8.95 and that includes a salad, drink and a roll. When I visited, I tried out their stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. When they came out steaming hot and covered in a thin red sauce, I was taken by surprise, but it was a great surprise! They were deliciously stuffed with breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, crab and clams. I would go back and get these every time! I also had their fettucine alfredo and their pasta trio and both were creamy and very tasty. Stop by this corner Italian restaurant for lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed.

Pane Vino

Pane Vino is nestled back in the Villages of Allen, if you blink you will miss it, but it is worth a stop. It is a small restaurant but very inviting and their patio is perfect for a summer night dinner date! I surprisingly had the best crab cakes that I have had in a long time here. You do not think of crab cakes being served at an Italian restaurant, but these were perfect! I also had their Tortellini alla Vodka with chicken, it was so tender and the sauce was so good, I could have eaten it as a soup. They have some great choices and a vast wine list, so stop by and sit for a spell, you will be happy you did.
