Allen's Community Theatre Presents God of Carnage, March 20th - April 5th

“God of Carnage”, a play by Yasmina Reza, is coming to Allen’s Community Theatre this month. The story brings together two sets of parents to resolve a playground altercation between their eleven-year-old boys. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters.

We selected this dark comedy to stretch the scope of what ACT has presented to the community in the past,” said Jennifer Stubbs, Director, “The talent coming to us for roles is so fantastic that we wanted to give a cast the opportunity to really shine in this Tony Award winner.” “Theatre is all about language,” continues Stubbs, “and I am thrilled to be directing this production in which the breakdown of language and the collapse of societal rules is presented in a most savage manner. I believe the performance will be a truly memorable and challenging experience for our audience.”

“God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza is presented by special arrangement with DRAMATISTS PLAY SERVICES, INC. The play won both the Laurence Olivier Award and Tony Award in 2009 for Best Comedy.
